This is a new experience for me!

First, I have to thank Eric den Doop, colleague, friend and fellow MVP for making this facility available to us all. I think it is a wonderful idea and hopefully we can make some sensible use of it.

Of course, like all new things, the novelty value will ensure that something happens for the next few days at least but after that....

My intention is to try and use this initially, to post items of information that I come across  frequently with the general idea of building a FAQ type of log. But we'll have to see what happens about that :)

Hopefully this will enable some of us to extend the Southwest Fox and other development conference fellowship. I know that you have published numerous articles over time in FoxTalk which I have never had the time or opportunity to read -- we only subscribe to FPA here in our tiny shop. With any luck the blog may take on a life of its own and not require nursing and nourishment by only Andy to make it work. I have a couple of Forums (which I guess are really blogs) which I visit very seldom, but one of them is extremely healthy, and the other is quietly moribund.

Good luck Andy. I think this will be a great benefit to all of us!

Just noticed that the timestamp on my message says 4:44 pm when it is 10.44am. I suspect that your blog is still set to GMT. My guess is that there is an Admin setting where you can set it to GMT-5 to make it correct.

No, the BLOG is set to Zone +5 (which is GMT -5) but the server is, I assume, in Holland....

Welcome to the Blogosphere Andy!

Just added an entry announcing it at my <a href="http://www.bloglines.com/blog/AlexFeldstein">blog</a>. I'm sure you'll have interesting things to write about.

Andy,

Judging by the volume of feedback you have already received, you could be on to a good thing here. If you can use it as a vehicle to publish your collected wisdom, it will be vey useful.

Good luck.

Mike

Hi Andy - nice to see you on the bandwagon <g>.

In your "I've got a blog" email you said <i>My concern with blogging has always been the fragmentation that it implies</i>, but that's what OPML is about. People can subscribe to a bunch of different people's blogs and categorise/collect them as makes sense to them, not according to just one perceived grouping.

Give me a chance - I've only just figured out the basics :)

OPML is something I've got to look into. I did buy a copy of FeedDemon though and that looks useful.

Hi Andy! You're about the last person I would have expected to start blogging, but you're ahead of me!

Nice job here Andy! my initial opinion of blogs being a time-sink with little ROI value has changed... this is pretty cool! not that I'd bother anytime soon ;) but nice job nonetheless!

Hi Rox

Thanks. As I've said elsewhere I'm going to try to keep posting something every weekend. Normal forum traffic slows down a bit at the weekend so I'll use my "forum time" for the Blog instead of playing FreeCell :)

Andy,

As an offical member of the peanut gallery (having attended many of your seesions at the late, lamented Whilfests), it's great to see you here.

Thank you Richard. I will try to keep the rate of at least one new post per week up - look for new stuff Monday mornings (the weekend is my slack time <g>)

Slack time? What is this... "slack time"?

Well, I spend about 2 hours per weekdaY answering questions on the various FoxPro forums that I visit (Compuserve, Foxite and VFPUG). However at weekends there is very little traffic so I have most of that time free. Normally it just gets wasted, but I will try to use it to post to the Blog instead. That's all.

What do you think?
